Provide Education

The King’s Embrace is committed to providing an education to each child in our care.  Education is the key to becoming a responsible self-reliant adult.  While many of our boys have fallen behind in their schooling due to their time on the streets, several of our boys have worked very hard and are currently ranked in the top 5 % of their class.   Recently we were gifted with a computer lab which we hope will serve to help our young men catch up to and even exceed their current grade level.

We purchased two vans and our staff transport the high school boys to and from school each day, sometimes even six and seven days per week.  They depart at 5:30 am and return at 7:00 pm.  While it is very demanding of our staff, they enjoy having the time with the boys to hear about their day, listening to their stories, singing, and making jokes.

Upon graduation from high school, The King’s Embrace provides one additional year of education for each young man.  We believe skills training in addition to academics is vital.  Depending upon their score on the Kenyan national exam, the student may either enroll in a university or a technical school.  If a student chooses to enroll in a course of higher education that requires more than one year to complete, the student must secure his own funding after the first year or take a government loan to continue his education.
